Studio organization

Late last year I decided I needed to find a more effective way of organizing my hand threads.  I originally had them on wire binder rings but as the collection grew, I found they would tend to get tangled etc.  When I participated in a trim swap last year, I received some trims on larger floss keys (above) which I hadn't seen locally.  So, I sourced them online and have been organizing since.
All my threads fit into one drawer now with the exception of a remaining few still on rings.  So far, this system seems to be working well.  I find organizing them by colour allows me to select threads easily for any project.
Love it when a plan comes together!

  4. Your drawer is organizational bliss. Happy stitching as you will spend less time gathering your threads.

  5. There is something so appealing about the way a box of organized threads look. I just want to carefully finger through them to feel the texture and see all the colors.

  6. I have these little plastic cards for about half my floss, from years ago. I was thinking about NOT using them for the new and cooler threads and fibers I'm now acquiring because I was worried about the creasing... you think it's OK then? I carry my project's worth of threads around on a 5" hinged ring -- so handy! (mine never organized themselves into a little floss army like you have -- love it!)

  7. Great idea! Nothinfpg to me feels better when I am creating than to be able to easily access different materials at a glance!
