Christmas 2010

This is my last post for 2010!
Wishing all of my blog friends all over the world a happy, healthy and creative 2011!
Back to share more creative ventures in the new year.

I did manage to download some photos from my camera yesterday and put this little collage together.  The top left is a view of old town.  Guadalupe Day is celebrated on December 12th and there are celebrations for the two weeks prior to this date.  Each night there are processions leading to the church and I managed to capture a church photo at night during one of these.  Bells are ringing, parades are ongoing, lots of music and market stands selling all kinds of food and craft items.  There was also sand castle carving by some very talented carvers.

I'll be participating again in 2011 (the final year) - will you???

I've got mail!  This arrived the day before I left for vacation.
I have wanted some cabinet cards for some time and we hardly ever see these in my neck of the woods.  So, Sharon posted awhile ago that she had picked up some.  She was kind enough to share some of hers with me so we swapped some goodies.  I LOVE them Sharon!
Look what else she included!  Sharon makes some lovely jewelry which she sells in her etsy shop.
Thanks for everything Sharon!

Have returned from a lovely vacation but regretfully picked up a very nasty cold so spent the weekend on the couch!  Not a particularly enjoyable way to return home.  Thank you all for your lovely comments about my last crazy quilt block.
Thought it was about time to share a Christmas project.  This is a soldered cube I completed last year which uses 2" square cut glass.  The top and bottom are solid chipboard covered with decorative papers.  This is one view....
And this is another view.  All four sides are small vignettes.

You can read about this project here.  This is the before photo of block 2!  I mentioned previously I would start to post the "prior to stitching" photos first!
This is the "after stitching".  I've used silk, cotton and rayon threads including some of my own hand dyes.  Have also used some buttons, brads, sequins and a flower motif.  Am not sure I like the couched yarn but may end up adding something later.  Only 20 or so more to go....
This will be my last post for several weeks as I am on vacation.
Until my return.....

I have a new blog button/avatar!  This is one of the designs I worked with when creating my moo stickers.  I liked it so much I decided to use it more!
What do you think??

Can you believe it is December already!
I took a fabulous online Mixed Media Mayhem workshop with Roben-Marie about a month ago.  When I took the workshop I decided to use colours I perhaps don't use very frequently and this is one of my experiments.  The base is a used manilla file folder.
Once complete, I made it into an envelope.  This is the front....
   and this is the back
I will be posting more in the future as I made quite a few bases waiting to become future mail art!
Managed some sewing yesterday and am off to the city today.
